Job summary

Experis Canada is seeking a Custom Software Engineer / Development Lead in Montreal, QC, a hybrid role (2 days onsite). The contract spans 6 months with a pay range of $90/hr INC.

You will lead the design and development of Java/Spring Boot applications and microservices for banking-grade document and transaction processing. Responsibilities include designing REST APIs, Kafka-based integrations, and AWS workflows, plus mentoring teams and enforcing standards.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Strong experience with Microservices architecture.
• Experience with REST / Open APIs.
• Experience with event-driven and distributed systems.
• Experience designing and developing scalable backend solutions.
• Strong technical leadership and architecture experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Development, Information Technology, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of Java/Spring Boot applications and microservices.
• Design REST APIs and Kafka-based event-driven integrations.
• Lead document and transaction processing solutions.
• Design AWS-based workflows using Lambda, AWS Batch, and S3.
• Support ECM modernization and migration of FileNet/CMOD workloads to AWS.
• Provide technical leadership, architecture guidance, and mentorship to development teams.
• Promote coding standards, automated testing, security, observability, and reliability.
• Collaborate with architects, product owners, security teams, and business stakeholders.
• Analyze complex technical challenges and develop scalable and maintainable solutions.
• Support CI/CD, containerization, infrastructure automation, and deployment processes.
