Job summary

PBX Engineering is seeking a Design Engineer or Design Technologist to join the Integrated Systems team to deliver ITS projects across BC & Alberta. You will prepare design docs, program PLCs/SCADA/HMIs, and support testing, commissioning, and client training.

Strong experience in ITS, industrial controls, and CAD is required, with on-site work and travel as needed. A technical diploma or degree and eligible professional registration are preferred.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology or Electrical Engineering degree.
• Eligible for ASTTBC AScT or EGBC EIT/P.Eng registration.
• 5-10 years experience in ITS or related industry.
• Experience in ITS or industrial controls design.
• Knowledge of ITS/industrial standards.
• Experience with formal software development design process.
• Experience with hardware: low-voltage power, sensors, comms equipment.
• PLCs, SCADA, HMIs programming experience.
• Experience with serial and IP-based communications protocols.
• Network design knowledge: fibre, copper, wireless.
• Familiarity with diagnostic/testing tools; CAD and MS Office.
• Strong communication and organizational skills; detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ITS infrastructure design docs, specs, estimates and reports.
• Develop software systems documentation across lifecycle concepts.
• Prepare materials for design reviews with clients and stakeholders.
• Configure ITS hardware, software systems and network equipment.
• Program PLCs, SCADA, HMIs and related software.
• Create test plans, traceability matrices and procedures.
• Perform system testing, commissioning and troubleshooting.
• Produce data analyses, models and simulations.
• Provide client training for system administrators and operators.
• Travel to sites and perform on-site work as required.
• Support construction activities, reviews, and progress claims.
• Engage in client liaison, project management and proposals.
