Job summary

PBX Engineering, an electrical, systems, and software engineering firm with offices in BC and Alberta, is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join the Municipal Utilities team in delivering projects in BC and Alberta. You will work closely with other engineers and have responsibility for a broad set of tasks including client liaison, contract documentation, drawings, site visits, and commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Perform client liaison and project management to support efficient and effective project delivery.
• Prepare construction-related contract documentation.
• Provide constructability reviews.
• Conduct site assessments and equipment condition assessments.
• Conduct site inspections, construction progress reviews, and field reviews.
• Prepare calculations and simulations; prepare cost estimates.
• Produce drawings and prepare specifications, reports, memos, and other deliverables.
• Attend meetings and support system commissioning and troubleshooting.
• Develop software and manage teams; mentor junior staff as directed.

About the Role

Working closely with other engineers, the Senior Design Engineer will be a key member of the Municipal Utilities team, with responsibility for project tasks in the following areas:

• Perform client liaison and project management to support efficient and effective project delivery
• Prepare construction-related contract documentation
• Provide constructability reviews
• Conduct site assessments and equipment condition assessments
• Conduct site inspections, construction progress reviews, and field reviews
• Prepare, track, review, and manage construction documentation (change orders, site instructions, shop drawings, quality management forms, test plans, requests for information, as-built drawings, etc.)
• Oversee contractor quality control and testing activities
• Prepare calculations and simulations; Prepare cost estimates
• Produce drawings
• Prepare specifications, reports, technicalmemos, and other project documentation and deliverables
• Attend meetings
• Perform system commissioning and troubleshooting
• Develop software
• Manage teams and mentor junior staff, as and when directed

Core Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university, or diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology program or equivalent from a recognized technical institute.
• Eligible for registration with EGBC as an EIT/P.Eng.
• At least 8 - 12 years experience in an engineering consulting environment
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Effective interpersonal skills

• Proven organizational and time management skills

Compensation

The range of compensation for this position is $124,800 to $166,400 base salary per annum.This salary range is provided specifically for compliance to provincial legislation.The actual salary will depend on the skills, experience, and capabilities of the successful candidate relative to the role and may or may not land within the range specified above
