Job summary

PBX Engineering Ltd. is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join the Municipal Utilities team in delivering projects across BC and Alberta. You will collaborate with other engineers, manage client relationships, and contribute to a diverse project portfolio.

The role requires an electrical engineering degree or equivalent, registration eligibility with EGBC, and 8–12 years of consulting experience. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university, or diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology.
• Eligible for registration with EGBC as an EIT/P.Eng.
• 8-12 years of experience in engineering consulting.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated project management experience.
• Experience managing client relationships.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code.

Responsibilities

• Perform client liaison and project management to support efficient project delivery.
• Prepare construction-related contract documentation.
• Provide constructability reviews.
• Conduct site assessments and equipment condition assessments.
• Conduct site inspections, construction progress reviews, and field reviews.
• Prepare, track, review, and manage construction documentation (change orders, site instructions, shop drawings, QA forms, test plans, RFIs, as-builts).
• Oversee contractor quality control and testing activities.
• Prepare calculations and simulations; prepare cost estimates.
• Produce drawings.
• Prepare specifications, reports, technical memos, and other deliverables.
• Attend meetings.
• Perform system commissioning and troubleshooting.
• Develop software.
• Manage teams and mentor junior staff as directed.

About The Role

Working closely with other engineers, the Senior Design Engineer will be a key member of the Municipal Utilities team, with responsibility for project tasks in the following areas:

• Perform client liaison and project management to support efficient and effective project delivery

Qualifications

Core Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university, or diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology program or equivalent from a recognized technical institute.
• Eligible for registration with EGBC as an EIT/P.Eng.
• At least 8 - 12 years experience in an engineering consulting environment
• Strong oral and written communication skills

Compensation

The range of compensation for this position is $124,800 to $166,400 base salary per annum. This salary range is provided specifically for compliance to provincial legislation. The actual salary will depend on the skills, experience, and capabilities of the successful candidate relative to the role and may or may not land within the range specified above
