East Coast Mining Ltd. is seeking a Nightshift Lead Hand Heavy Duty Mechanic for a long-term, open‑pit mining project near St. Lawrence, Newfoundland and Labrador. This role leads nightshift maintenance on large mobile equipment and drives safety, reliability and production through effective supervision.

Qualified candidates have a Journeyperson HD Equipment Technician certification and at least 5 years in mining or a related field, with CAT and Komatsu experience and prior leadership experience.

Qualifikationen

• Journeyperson Heavy Duty Equipment Technician/Mechanic certification.
• Minimum 5 years of mining/industrial experience preferred.
• Strong hands-on experience maintaining large mobile mining equipment.
• Experience with CAT and Komatsu equipment.
• Previous lead hand, supervisory or maintenance leadership experience.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to coordinate maintenance priorities in a production-focused setting.
• Commitment to safe work practices and wearing PPE as required.
• Experience supervising internal crews and subcontractors.

Essential Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate nightshift maintenance activities for heavy mobile mining equipment
• Provide day‑to‑day direction and technical support to Heavy Duty Mechanics and maintenance personnel
• Coordinate maintenance priorities to support equipment availability and mine production requirements
• Oversee planned and unplanned repairs, troubleshooting and preventative maintenance activities
• Support the diagnosis and repair of mechanical issues on large mining equipment
• Coordinate work performed by internal maintenance personnel and subcontractors
• Monitor work progress and ensure maintenance activities are completed safely and efficiently
• Ensure crews follow established maintenance procedures and site safety requirements
• Communicate equipment status, outstanding repairs and maintenance priorities during shift handovers
• Promote safe work practices and maintain a high standard of housekeeping within maintenance areas

Qualifications

• Journeyperson Heavy Duty Equipment Technician/Mechanic certification
• Minimum 5 years of mining / industrial experience preferred
• Strong hands‑on experience maintaining large mobile mining equipment
• Experience working with Caterpillar (CAT) and Komatsu equipment
• Previous lead hand, supervisory or maintenance leadership experience
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
• Proven ability to coordinate maintenance priorities in a production‑focused environment
• Strong safety leadership and commitment to safe work practices
• Comfortable overseeing internal maintenance crews and subcontractors
• Valid driver’s licence and acceptable driver’s abstract
• Available to work a permanent nightshift rotation
• Successful completion of pre‑employment drug and alcohol testing

Work Conditions

• 14 days on / 14 days off rotation
• Permanent nightshift
• Overtime and shift premiums in accordance with the Collective Agreement
