Placements24 seeks a Lead Geotechnical Engineer for a major mining operation based in Kimberley. This site-based role requires leadership of a geotechnical team, advanced analyses, and robust designs to ensure safety and stability of structures and excavations.

The candidate will have 8+ years in mining geotechnics, a Master’s or PhD in geotechnical/civil/mining eng, and strong skills in rock mechanics, slope stability, and seismic risk management.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Mining Engineering with a geotechnical focus.
• Minimum of 8 years of geotechnical engineering experience, with significant mining exposure.
• Proficiency with Rocscience suite, FLAC, and Plaxis.

Responsibilities

• Perform geotechnical investigations and analyses for open-pit and underground mine design.
• Develop and implement ground support designs and stability monitoring programs.
• Conduct seismic hazard assessments and seismic risk management plans.
• Oversee collection and interpretation of geotechnical data from field investigations and monitoring.
• Provide expert advice on geotechnical implications of mine design and operational changes.
