As we continue to expand our ERP consulting practice, we are looking for an experienced Lead ERP Consultant – Finance to join our team and play a critical role in delivering successful ERP implementations.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced ERP Finance Consultant with a strong accounting background and a proven track record of leading financial workstreams through complex ERP implementations.

This is a senior, hands‑on consulting role for someone who understands the financial aspects of ERP systems and can translate complex business and accounting requirements into practical, scalable solutions.

The successful candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to client CFOs, Controllers, Finance Directors, and senior management teams while working closely with our functional consultants, business analysts, technical teams, and project delivery leaders.

You will take ownership of the finance workstream throughout the ERP implementation lifecycle, from initial discovery and solution design through configuration, data migration, testing, go‑live, and post‑implementation stabilization.

Key Responsibilities

A. ERP Finance Implementation Leadership

• Lead the financial workstreams for Odoo and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central implementations.
• Conduct detailed financial discovery workshops with CFOs, Controllers, Finance Managers, and accounting teams.
• Analyze existing financial processes, identify improvement opportunities, and recommend ERP best practices.
• Design and configure core financial modules, including General Ledger and Chart of Accounts; Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable; Fixed Assets; Bank Reconciliation and Cash Management; Multi‑Currency Transactions; Intercompany Accounting; Financial Consolidation; Financial Dimensions and Analytical Accounting; and Month‑End and Year‑End Closing Processes.
• Translate accounting and business requirements into functional design documents and ERP configurations.
• Collaborate with business analysts and technical consultants to deliver integrated solutions.
• Ensure financial solutions are aligned with accounting principles, internal controls, and business requirements.

B. Cost Accounting and Industry‑Specific Solutions

• Lead the design and implementation of complex costing and financial management processes.
• Provide expertise in Manufacturing Cost Accounting, Inventory Valuation and Costing, Work in Progress (WIP), Project and Job Costing, Revenue Recognition, and Cost Allocation and Profitability Analysis.
• Work with manufacturing, warehouse, procurement, sales, and project management teams to ensure accurate financial integration.
• Develop solutions supporting financial visibility, cost control, and operational reporting.
• Advise clients on ERP financial processes and controls appropriate for their industry.

C. Finance Data Migration, Testing, and Go‑Live

• Define strategies for historical financial data, opening balances, outstanding transactions, and master data.
• Oversee reconciliation between legacy systems and the new ERP environment.
• Coordinate financial testing, including unit testing, integrated testing, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
• Validate financial reports, system controls, approval workflows, and segregation of duties.
• Ensure financial data accuracy and reconciliation sign‑off before go‑live.
• Support go‑live activities, financial cutover, and post‑implementation stabilization.
• Take ownership of financial issues through resolution and client acceptance.

D. Financial Advisory and Client Engagement

• Act as a trusted ERP and finance advisor to client leadership teams.
• Facilitate discussions with CFOs and Controllers regarding financial processes, reporting, and system improvements.
• Recommend ERP best practices that enhance operational efficiency, financial accuracy, and internal controls.
• Assist with ERP solution assessments, discovery engagements, and finance transformation initiatives.
• Support pre‑sales activities, including solution demonstrations, financial scoping, effort estimates, and proposal development.
• Help clients understand the business value of implementing and optimizing their ERP systems.

E. Team Collaboration and Knowledge Development

• Collaborate closely with project managers, business analysts, technical consultants, and customer success teams.
• Provide financial and accounting guidance to ERP functional consultants and business analysts.
• Mentor junior and intermediate consultants on ERP finance processes and implementation best practices.
• Develop reusable implementation templates, documentation, and finance‑related best practices.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of Blue Sky Consulting’s delivery methodology and internal playbooks.
• Act as a senior escalation resource for complex post‑go‑live financial issues.

Required Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who bring a combination of strong accounting knowledge, ERP implementation experience, and consulting skills.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related accounting discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of relevant professional experience in ERP consulting, implementation, or finance systems transformation.
• Proven experience leading the finance workstream on multiple full‑cycle ERP implementations, ideally 3–5 or more successful implementations.
• Deep understanding of financial accounting, ERP financial modules, and accounting processes.
• Experience configuring financial systems and translating business requirements into functional designs.
• Strong knowledge of GL, AP, AR, Fixed Assets, Bank Reconciliation, Financial Reporting, and Month‑End Close.
• Experience with financial data migration, reconciliation, testing, and go‑live activities.
• Excellent communication, documentation, presentation, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work directly with senior finance executives and confidently lead financial design discussions.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and take ownership of deliverables.

Strongly Preferred Qualifications

• CPA designation (CPA Canada or equivalent).
• Previous experience as a Controller, Finance Manager, Senior Accountant, or Finance Systems Lead.
• Experience working for an ERP consulting firm, implementation partner, or professional services organization.
• ERP implementation experience within manufacturing, oil and gas services, construction, or project‑based industries.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing costing, inventory accounting, project costing, and financial consolidation.
• Experience working with mid‑market organizations and complex business processes.
• Experience advising CFOs and finance leadership teams on ERP strategy and financial transformation.
• Experience or exposure to both Odoo and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
