Job Description

An amazing opportunity has arisen for a Lead Engineering Technician. Along with your strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, you will demonstrate strong leadership skills to support the engineering team while creating an inclusive culture that energizes a safety-first, quality-always, continuous improvement mindset.

As the engineering lead technician, you will work across the site supporting engineering activities including planning, assigning, and coordinating work, executing predictive, preventative, and corrective maintenance activities ensuring the site operations are safe and reliable to ensure operations run smoothly.

You will also support project activities, installation of equipment, and startups, ensuring operations, maintenance, and the availability of equipment at all times.

What you will do:

  • Play a primary role in establishing continuous improvement of the site Maintenance Programme to ensure compliance with all global, site, and regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for establishing Best-Known-Methods in Maintenance, working closely with the Maintenance Planner, Engineer, and Maintenance Scheduler.
  • Troubleshoot equipment, process, facility, and utility issues by performing investigation root cause analysis and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Guide the team to troubleshoot and remediate unplanned downtime on equipment as required.
  • Drive and support audit readiness activities within the assigned area.
  • Coach and delegate activities as required for the team.
  • Perform activities associated with the maintenance programme including but not limited to preventative maintenance, reactive maintenance, predictive data collection in a GxP environment using the site computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). These activities are completed in accordance with cGMP and Quality and EHS site procedures.
  • Perform supporting activities for operational readiness, equipment qualification, and site projects.
  • Co-ordinate and support site engineering and maintenance reliability initiatives and programmes.
  • Lead and support site investigations, identifying root causes and measures to prevent recurrence.
  • Support Quality/EHS Corrective & Preventative actions (CAPA).
  • Identify and action areas of operational/continuous improvement within the assigned area.

In order to excel in this role, you will more than likely have:

  • Third level qualification in an Engineering, technical discipline, or equivalent.
  • 5 years’ experience in biotechnology and/or pharmaceutical industry or equivalent.
  • Excellent understanding of manufacturing processes, maintenance, and reliability best practices.
  • Knowledge of Maintenance requirements of Upstream and Downstream equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proven ability around working cross-functionally, focusing on meeting and tracking to schedules and embracing an interdependent work culture.
  • Organisation Skills – Ability to manage multiple priorities and know when to escalate issues for resolution.
  • Knowledge and experience working in a Maintenance/Engineering environment in a Bulk Drug Substance environment in a Biotechnology facility.
