Lead Electrical Engineer - Oil, Gas, & Chemical (OGC)

We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to join our team in Calgary, AB, supporting projects across the oil, gas, and chemical sectors. This role involves leading electrical design efforts, mentoring junior engineers, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, cost-effective, and innovative engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

1. Perform complex electrical calculations and lead design reviews.
2. Develop electrical engineering designs, including schematics, layouts, and calculations.
3. Coordinate design efforts and evaluate bids and proposals.
4. Mentor and guide junior engineers, ensuring compliance with standards and codes.
5. Lead projects or proposals, aiming to improve design efficiency and reduce costs.
6. Ensure quality and accuracy in engineering documentation and design outputs.
7. Report project status and manage multiple assignments effectively.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
2. Minimum of 10 years’ experience in electrical design within oil and gas, power, or energy industries.
3. Experience with electrical equipment specification and sizing (Transformers, Switchgear, Cables, MCCs, Panelboards).
4. Knowledge of industry standards and codes.
5. Proficiency with electrical power system analysis software (ETAP, SKM, EZ-Power, CYMCAP).
6. Professional Engineering (PE) license.
7. Excellent communication skills and ability to travel within Canada and the US.
