Job summary

Trevor Frances Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established manufacturing organization, for an Electrical Engineer. This role focuses on designing, implementing, and improving automated electrical systems in a manufacturing setting.

You will lead projects from concept to implementation, develop schematics with AutoCAD Electrical, program PLCs and HMIs, and work with CIM systems while ensuring safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• P.Eng. designation or eligibility is considered an asset.
• Minimum 3 years of electrical engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) systems.
• Hands-on experience with PLC programming, troubleshooting, and industrial automation systems.
• Experience with Wonderware or similar HMI/SCADA platforms.
• Experience with process automation and manufacturing equipment.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical or comparable electrical design software.
• Knowledge of Canadian electrical codes and industrial standards.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement electrical systems and automation solutions for manufacturing operations.
• Lead electrical design activities for new equipment, process improvements, and capital projects.
• Develop electrical drawings, schematics, layouts, and technical documentation using AutoCAD Electrical or similar software.
• Program, troubleshoot, and modify PLCs, HMI, and SCADA systems, including Wonderware.
• Support maintenance and production teams by troubleshooting electrical and automation issues and implementing long-term corrective solutions.
• Design and implement electrical modifications that improve equipment performance, reliability, and safety.
• Develop project scopes, technical specifications, equipment layouts, and cost estimates.
• Coordinate projects with contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful implementation.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, resources, and deliverables.
• Perform electrical studies, testing, and system evaluations as required.
• Maintain engineering documentation, calculations, reports, and project records.
• Recommend continuous improvement initiatives that enhance manufacturing efficiency and reduce downtime.
• Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, engineering standards, and workplace safety requirements.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in industrial automation and manufacturing.
