Warehouse Address: 175 Haggart Ave., Winnipeg. MB - Unit #5

Shift Time:Monday -Friday (Full Time), Day Shift

Some of what you will do:

The incumbent of this position will be responsible for leading the transportation operation to ensure all customer deliveries are delivered next day. The incumbent would also support the transportation supervisors with the day-to-day delivery operation, load balancing and route coverage.

Train and mentor new delivery drivers and helpers.

Track and maintain log sheet for handheld package tracking devices.

Handles all deliveries for the day and turns all delivery receipts to the appropriate supervisor at the end of the shift.

Fill in for shift supervisor and for Cover Drivers (Backup Drivers) as needed.

Sort freight, load truck and verify packages against the manifest according to route sequence daily using all equipment necessary including pallet jacks, hand trucks, pallets, skids and handheld scanners.

Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on the vehicle being operated daily prior to leaving and returning to the SDO.

Deliver the merchandise to the customers (residential and commercial), in a prompt, safe, business like and friendly manner. Top priority should be given to taking care of the customer’s needs.

Use a handheld package scanner in the delivery process as required.

Obtain accurate electronic or paper POD (Proof of Delivery) for each delivery.

Drive the truck in a safe, lawful and courteous manner and attitude.

Keep the truck and associated equipment in proper working order. Report any problems to the Supervisor. Keep the cab and cargo area clean and free of clutter.

Process all non-delivered and customer returns following correct procedures, upon return to the SDO at the end of the day.

Submit all required Pod’s, non-delivery, return information and reports to the appropriate Supervisor daily.

Work as a team member by interacting and communicating with fellow associates in a cooperative, constructive manner.

Conduct Safety training and other driver training sessions as needed.

Conduct consistent check rides and other audits.

Pick Up and accept merchandise returns and/or damages.

When help assigned (driver or driver helper) maintain responsibility for truck and equipment. Lead daily completion of work and report questions/issues to SDO supervisor right away.

Have responsibility for and maintain communication with a team of drivers throughout the day and be able to adjust as necessary.

Valid driver’s license (no “major moving violations”).

Driving must be in good standing.

Math and mechanical aptitude.

Able to navigate and read a map.

Physically fit.

Must have excellent customer service skills/satisfaction.

Must be a team player and able to work well with minimum supervision.

Able to lift to 70lbs.

1-3 years of driving experience in a service-oriented position.

Must be at least 21 years of age.

Works in a warehouse environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

While performing the delivery duties (90%), the employee regularly works near mechanical equipment and drives throughout assigned route in all kinds of weather and road conditions.
