Digital First for Health (DFfH) is central to the government’s efforts to transform the health care system so that it is integrated, sustainable, and patient centered. Strong digital capabilities are critical to enable system integration and the sharing of information throughout the health care system and between members of the integrated care team, so that patients receive seamless care. These capabilities include tools that offer such things as virtual care, online appointment booking, digital access for patients, better and more connected tools for frontline providers, and data integration and predictive analytics.
As a Lead, Digital Health Innovation and Transformation you will be the main point of contact for coordinating Digital Health activities within a defined cluster area, and will work collaboratively with the other team members, across the Central Region of Ontario Health.
Please be advised that the scope of this role is regional in nature and therefore, will focus on the pertinent region’s particular needs.
Here is what you will be doing:
Local Partnerships and OHTs
Would hold the primary relationship with a cluster of partners in a geographic area, such as OHTs.
Steward OHTs toward a digital plan that aligns with the provincial vision on digital and virtual care.
Identify opportunities for multiple OHT collaboration across the region.
Share funding opportunities and engage with OHTs on development of funding opportunities to enable clinical integration in their area.
Support the development of local and regional proposals as required.
Lead and manage healthy relationships and partnerships with champions and regional sponsors for the adoption of Digital Health Solutions within the Region.
Create and submit proposals/business cases for consideration by the Director, Digital Health Innovation and Transformation and Executive for the Central Region.
Would work collaborative with other Leads in Ontario Health Central Region for sharing of best practice, identification of innovations for spread and scale, share learnings, and identify opportunities for regional consistency in digital/virtual care utilization.
Identify opportunities for partner ongoing engagement in the assigned geographic area.
Plan projects with significant partner engagement.
Develop Subject Matter Expertise in assigned areas, such as mental health sector, eServices, long-term care, central intake and so forth.
Would engage with appropriate delivery partners (e.g., eHealth Centre of Excellence).
Work with other Central Region portfolios to identify opportunities where digital enablers can advance other health care transformation underway.
Collaboratively develop strategies and tactics to increase adoption rate, spread and scale for identified digital health initiatives/solutions.
Assist the Regional Digital Health Lead for Central Region with the strategy development, planning and execution of digital initiatives.
Actively participate in the Digital Health Advisory Council (DHAC) for Central Region.
Maintain and develop the materials to enhance work performance, such as communications, reference material and reporting tools.
Identify risks and opportunities in the implementation of digital solutions among the partners, OHTs or regional initiative.
Direct activities related to the planning, implementation and, reporting of digital solutions and their adoption by the health care community.
Create, establish and monitor projects implementation and operations.
Establish iterative problem solving and impact evaluation on digital solutions within assigned areas.
Provide program and project level insight and oversight on initiatives you are either managing or monitoring that are provincial, regional or local within the assigned cluster.
Ensure projects are coordinated and integrated across the Central Region Ontario Health.
Ensure supporting program and project data is kept current and accessible by the project team.
Ensure proposed projects are sustainable and sustainability costs are identified in advance and subsequently managed to budget if the projects become approved.
Here is what you will need to be successful:
Education and Experience
University degree in business administration, health administration, or a related field.
5 + years’ experience in healthcare/digital work
Demonstrated experience/knowledge within the healthcare community in Ontario in a project management role, business development, health system planning and architecture, partner engagement/facilitator, client service or a similar role.
Previous knowledge and experience of the Ontario healthcare system/ knowledge of the Digital First for Health Strategy and related issues is considered an asset.
Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external partners (liaison role).
Solid project management experience and skills including knowledge of project management methodologies, tools and templates (PMP certification is an asset).
Demonstrated leadership skills including the ability to influence others and facilitate meetings.
Ability to influence partnerss to help drive initiatives forward and co-design solutions.
Excellent abilities to analyze and interpret complex information to deliver a solution that meets business needs including prioritization.
Excellent interpersonal, diplomacy, communication and presentation skills.
Evaluation techniques and proven ability to lead change and find creative solutions
Exceptional experience in effective strategic planning, budgeting, research, resource allocation, analytics and policy processes.
Well-developed leadership and management skills deeply rooted in teamwork and mutual support
Excellent working knowledge of direct care/care coordination models used in community health care organizations.
Excellent knowledge of community resources (e.g., services and programs), and roles of health care professionals.
Excellent knowledge of challenges and issues, methods and techniques for outsourced/ contracted services and service providers.
Strong knowledge of tools, systems and databases used in patient care delivery and management.
Understanding and commitment to quality service and best practice.
Flexible, adaptable and responsive to change.
Self-directed with an ability to organize, plan, prioritize and multi-task.
Demonstrated critical thinking and detail-oriented
Accountable for own actions and decisions, making decisions within the scope of the position and referring issues/problems/events to the Director as required.
Solid facilitation and presentation skills.
Oversees the development, implementation and maintenance of relevant procedure manuals
Excellent planning, time-management, multi-tasking and organizational skills.
Ability to think analytically with attention to detail in the presence of frequent interruptions.
Adept in the use of MS Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).
Knowledge and Skills

Technical Aptitude: Ability to understand technical or funding information with confidence, including the application of performance indicators and measurement.
Fiscal Accountability: Has an appreciation of the key drivers, issues, opportunities, funding models, performance measures and political influences within a health system or similar enterprise where transparency is a requirement.
Business Acumen: Ability to apply business principles, including systems thinking, to the healthcare environment; basic business principles include financial management, human resource management, organizational dynamics and governance, strategic planning, risk management and quality improvement.
Partner Engagement: Extensive partner engagement required. Develops networks and builds alliances. Engages in cross-functional activities; collaborates across boundaries and finds common ground with a widening range of partners.
Relationship Management: Builds multiple external collaborative relationships to support department performance. Identifies the key issues and accommodates the key players when dealing with external parties/units on joint projects
Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Listens well and encourages open communication. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely. Considers and responds appropriately to the needs, feelings, and capabilities of others in different situations; is tactful, compassionate and sensitive, and treats others with respect.
