Job summary

RBC is seeking a senior software engineer to help transform the Chief Data Office. You will build scalable, secure solutions spanning modern full-stack development to AI application architecture, bridging legacy systems and cloud-native approaches in a fast-paced environment.

The role emphasizes hands-on modernization, mentorship, and strong collaboration with SMEs, architects, and senior developers to deliver production-grade, financial-grade software while advancing Generative AI capabilities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on software development with at least 3 years in AI/ML and production deployments.
• Expert Python, NodeJS, relational databases; familiarity with LangChain/LangFuse and FastAPI.
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs with multi-system integration.
• Strong containerization experience (Docker, Kubernetes) and SDLC/CI/CD expertise.

Responsibilities

• Participate in technical analysis and solution design under guidance, contributing to sprint planning and Agile delivery.
• Translate business requirements into user stories and technical designs with mentors.
• Develop and maintain Python microservices, AngularJS front-ends, and RESTful APIs.
• Build cloud-native, containerized microservices on Linux and support CI/CD deployments.
• Perform peer reviews, unit/integration tests, and contribute across SDLC phases.
• Adopt best practices, security standards, and performance benchmarks for financial-grade systems.
• Support Generative AI and LLM initiatives across teams; provide leadership and mentorship.

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

Join a high-performing team transforming RBC’s Chief Data Office. You will work closely with SMEs, business stakeholders, architects, and senior developers to build and deploy scalable, secure solutions powering next-generation merchant payment capabilities. This role spans both modern full-stack development to AI application architecture, offering a unique opportunity to bridge legacy and cloud-native architectures. Expect rapid growth through hands-on modernization work, emerging AI technologies, and strong mentorship every step of the way.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

• Participate in technical analysis and solution design under senior guidance, contributing to sprint planning, estimation, and Agile delivery
• Translate business requirements into user stories and technical designs with mentorship from architects and senior developers
• Develop and maintain enterprise-grade python microservices, AnuglarJS front-end applications, and RESTful APIs
• Build and support cloud-native, containerized, and Linux-based microservice solutions
• Deliver solutions using Agile methodologies through CI/CD pipelines with full deployment support
• Conduct peer code reviews, unit and integration testing, and participate in all phases of software development
• Learn and adopt best practices, security standards, and performance benchmarks for financial-grade systems
• Support teams by applying and growing foundational knowledge in Generative AI and LLMs
• Strong leadership and mentorship capabilities with excellent communication skills

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

Must have:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in software development with 3+ years focused on AI/ML and production deployments.
• Expert Python proficiency, NodeJS, relational databases, LLM Frameworks (LangChain, LangFuse), FastAPI
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs with multi-system integration
• Strong exposure to containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Strong understanding of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and experience implementing development best practices
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing concepts, and Agile delivery practices
• Hands on experience with cloud platforms (OpenShift, AWS S3, or Azure), MLOps tolling for monitoring, and comfort working in Linux-based environments
• Fast learner who is results-oriented, self-motivated, and effective working both independently and in a team
• Demonstrated ability to architect scalable, maintainable systems

Nice-to-have :

• Familiarity with Identity/Access Management (Entra) or NoSQL/legacy databases (MongoDB, DB2), Redis
• Contributions to open-source AI/ML projects
• Familiarity with model governance, compliance, and responsible AI practices
• Understanding of MCP
