Job summary

Hatch in Mississauga, Canada is seeking a senior Civil Engineer to lead design and construction of municipal water and wastewater conveyance systems. You will apply project management practices, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and liaise with clients and regulatory agencies to deliver safe, sustainable infrastructure.

Base salary range CAD 89,000 to CAD 138,000, with a total rewards package including benefits and performance incentives. Applicants with a P.Eng.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited university.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario.
• 8 to 12 years of experience in linear conveyance design and construction, with a focus on municipal linear water and wastewater conveyance systems.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with linear water and wastewater conveyance systems.
• Proven experience with small and medium diameter watermains and sanitary/trunk sewers, valve chambers, and maintenance holes; hydraulic modelling; route alignment studies; familiarity with municipal standards and environmental processes.
• Proficiency in BIM, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, GIS, and MS Project; project management qualifications including planning, execution, monitoring, and stakeholder engagement.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills; experience coordinating multiple stakeholders in complex urban infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and construction of water and wastewater conveyance systems, including watermains and sewers.
• Apply structured project management practices to define scope, manage resources, monitor progress, control risks, and ensure quality throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage project delivery from concept through detailed design and construction.
• Prepare preliminary specifications, design drawings, and contract documents.
• Support all design phases including hydraulic modelling coordination, constructability reviews, and cost estimates.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams across civil, geotechnical, structural, seismic, mechanical, electrical, noise/vibration, and environmental areas.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance and successful execution.
• Communicate clearly in English across written, verbal, and presentation formats, including client engagement and business development.
