Overview

As a member of our Benefits and HR consulting team, you’ll help our mid to large clients employers, across all industries to build workplaces that work better. We are looking for a Lead Consultant who has the character and personality to collaborate with an accomplished team of personable and motivated individuals. This position supports the organization’s objective of providing superior financial and plan design advice.

The Lead Consultant will work both independently and with a team, managing an existing block of Benefits and Health business among mid- to large-sized clients across Canada. The role focuses on relationship management, maintaining high client retention, and acting as an ambassador for Gallagher in the marketplace. The Lead Consultant will also participate in finalist meetings for prospective clients.

How you'll make an impact
  1. Manage a block of clients and own responsibility for their growth
  2. Develop and maintain close relationships with clients and underwriters, acting as their primary contact and liaison
  3. Ensure client satisfaction through renewal negotiations, strategic plan design discussions, and financial reviews
  4. Monitor client satisfaction levels with underwriters and Gallagher
  5. Oversee project management actions and tasks
  6. Evaluate and compare capabilities of various benefit options
  7. Communicate face-to-face with clients regularly to deliver information and assess status
  8. Proactively market new products, services, and tools to existing clients to enhance their benefit investments or reduce costs
  9. Participate in off-site meetings for client feedback and knowledge sharing
  10. Support the team in preparing for prospect meetings and responses to RFPs
  11. Represent Gallagher externally at industry events and in the marketplace
  12. Lead internal projects and travel as required for client and industry engagements
About you
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in consulting, account management, underwriting, or technical roles within insurance or consulting firms
  • Thorough knowledge of the Canadian benefits industry
  • Ability to explain technical aspects of group insurance clearly in reports and correspondence
  • Strong planning, time management, analytical, and diagnostic skills
  • Knowledge of traditional and flexible benefit plans and funding arrangements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strategic, solution-minded, and capable of negotiating win-win outcomes
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Client-driven and a dedicated team player
  • Ability to work effectively with internal teams, insurers, and underwriters
  • Potential to lead projects as a team leader
