Job summary

24 EllisDon Industrial Inc. is seeking a Purchasing Lead to guide a team of purchasers and manage the full procurement cycle for multiple construction projects.

You will ensure timely PO creation, tracking, and delivery, while driving cost efficiencies and supplier performance across Western Canada. The role requires 5–8 years in purchasing with 3–5 years in construction, and strong negotiation, communication, and collaboration skills to work with project managers, estimators and finance.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in supply chain, procurement, or related field.
• Minimum 5–8 years purchasing experience, with 3–5 years in construction.
• Previous lead experience is highly valued.
• Experience supporting self-performing heavy civil procurement is beneficial.
• Strong negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and prioritize tasks.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach & develop a team of purchasers.
• Lead the full purchasing cycle: requisitions, quotes, awards, POs, tracking.
• Execute high-volume purchasing across multiple construction projects.
• Review project requirements, schedules, budgets, and lead times to identify procurement needs.
• Monitor market conditions and long-lead items to mitigate risks.
• Analyze purchasing trends to identify cost savings and supplier consolidation.
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, delivery, and service agreements.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, Superintendents, Estimators, and Finance to align procurement.
• Coordinate with Accounts Payable to ensure PO accuracy and timely payments.
• Maintain procurement records and cost coding for audits.
