An exciting opportunity exists within Ontario Health's new portfolio, Provincial Emergency Services. This portfolio aims to ensure effective delivery of OH programs related to Emergency Services, optimizing the impact on access to and the quality of care provided by Ontario Emergency Departments.
Here is what you will be doing:
Lead and manage engagement with diverse groups of clinical providers, health system administrators, regional partners, funders, and other key stakeholders to support clinical co-design planning and implementation of multi-year initiatives supporting emergency medicine
Collaborate with OH teams to support alignment with broader strategic initiatives of the Acute and Hospital-Based Care (AHBC) portfolio, health system planning activities, and performance measurement and reporting
Lead external advisory committees and task groups to advance the delivery and quality of CorHealth’s initiatives
Actively engage with provincial/regional advisory bodies, Ministry of Health (MOH), and subject matter experts to provide strategic advice and thought leadership
Provide internal and external leadership and advice as a clinical subject matter expert in emergency care
Develop relationships with colleagues within the team, across the organization, and externally to understand best practices, issues, and research needs; share information; and provide assistance in understanding system challenges related to emergency care and opportunities to address them
Develop clinical requirements, pathways, tools, or resources to support best practice care, planning, funding, and/or health care policy
Provide clinical subject matter expertise to support planning, design, implementation, and evaluation activities of programs and initiatives associated within the clinical portfolio
Leverage clinical experience to inform patient engagement strategies and perspectives that advance patient outcomes
Prepare reports, briefings, and presentations using excellent written, verbal, and graphical communication skills to express complex concepts effectively to a variety of audiences
Demonstrate leadership and integrity in interactions with internal and external stakeholders, including governmental, non-governmental, and non-for-profit organizations (i.e., MOH)
Here is what you will need to be successful:
Education and Experience
Undergraduate degree in health system related discipline, master's degree in health-related field is an asset
At least 5 years of expertise in emergency department clinical and operational delivery
Expert in emergency room triage practices with a background/credentials e.g., training/designation
Active membership with a regulated health professional college considered an asset
Member/recognized leader with national bodies related to emergency services
Experience in health system strategy, planning and leading/ enabling implementation of multi-year strategic projects
Experience in developing best practice guidance, health system improvement initiatives, reports and/ or evaluations
Experience implementing programs/ projects in complex clinical environments
A strong understanding of Ontario’s health care system as well as extensive experience in the clinical setting
Knowledge and Skills
Strong interpersonal skills with experience building relationships across healthcare leaders, service providers, and stakeholders
Proven ability to foster positive teamwork and collaboration in diverse environments
Skilled in recognizing and solving complex problems, proactively informing leadership of potential issues and solutions
Demonstrates initiative and independence in anticipating and addressing organizational needs
Capable of evaluating opinions and evidence, maintaining principles while adapting approaches as needed
Effective leader in conducting productive meetings
Thrives in fast-paced work environments
Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy
Delivers high-quality work efficiently and on time
