Job summary

The City of Brandon is seeking a full-time Water Treatment Plant Chargehand to participate in the operation of the Water Treatment Facility and to coordinate the Section’s staff delivering essential water services. This role is capped at Level 4 Chargehand and aligns with the Collective Agreement with CUPE Local 69.

Required qualifications include Grade 12, Class IV Operator’s certificate in Water Treatment, and Class 4 Power Engineer certification within twelve months.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent required.
• Class IV Operator’s certificate in Water Treatment.
• Class 4 Power Engineer certification within 12 months of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily operations of the Water Treatment Section to align with City goals.
• Perform laboratory tests for quality and process control.
• Liaise with service users and providers to deliver exceptional water services.
• Oversee safety practices and ensure compliance with procedures.
• Participate in hiring, payroll and budgeting activities for the Section.
• Respond to council inquiries and manage public relations as needed.
