Job summary

City of Brandon is seeking a Chargehand to participate in Water Treatment Facility operations and coordinate Section staff. The role is per the collective agreement with CUPE Local 69 and includes responsibility for service delivery, procedures, and safety compliance.

The position requires leadership, strong coordination skills, and the ability to oversee laboratory testing and customer service. Closing date applies and testing may occur during the process.

Qualifications

• Must have Grade 12, GED, CAEC, or Mature High School Diploma.
• Class IV Operator’s certificate in Water Treatment (Manitoba Conservation).
• Class 4 Power Engineer certification under Power Engineer’s Act (within 12 months).
• Three years experience in a Water Treatment Facility.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and lead the Water Treatment Facility section staff.
• Perform lab tests for quality and process control.
• Ensure safe, compliant operations and effective service delivery.
• Plan, monitor and review operating procedures and budgets as required.
• Maintain adherence to collective agreements, policies, and safety practices.
