Job summary

Giant Tiger in Thunder Bay, Ontario, is seeking a Head Cashier to lead checkout operations, train cashiers on POS and customer service, and ensure policies are followed.

The role includes opening/closing, supervising a team, managing tobacco and lottery compliance, maintaining a safe, clean checkout area, and resolving customer complaints with professionalism. A 35–40 hour week with additional flexibility may be required.

Qualifications

• Effective communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Supervisory experience an asset.
• Attention to detail.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in a retail environment.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for ensuring a high level of customer service.
• Training all cashiers on point of sale, customer service and checkouts procedures.
• Completing ordering and replenishment of checkout merchandise (including tobacco and lottery).
• Opening and closing the store on a rotating basis.
• Ensuring compliance of all checkout policies daily.
• Ensuring health and safety policies are followed.
• Maintaining a clean and organized checkout area.
• Following loss prevention best practices.
• Compliance when selling Tobacco and Lottery.
• Resolving customer complaints quickly and professionally.
