Job summary

North York CPA Firm in Toronto is seeking an experienced Assurance & Advisory Senior Manager / Principal to lead a diverse portfolio of engagements and mentor a growing team. The role offers a Senior leadership path and direct interaction with clients and partners.

The ideal candidate has CPA designation with 6+ years in public accounting, strong advisory skills, and a proven track record across audit and review engagements in privately held businesses.

Qualifications

• CPA designation is required.
• Minimum 6 years of management-level experience in public accounting.
• Minimum 3 years of experience at the Senior Manager level.
• Strong Canadian public accounting experience focusing on assurance.
• Extensive experience managing audit and review engagements.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards and assurance standards.
• Experience working with privately held and owner-managed businesses.
• Strong client relationship and communication skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple engagements, teams, and deadlines.
• Demonstrated leadership and team development capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a diverse portfolio of assurance engagements, including review and audit engagements.
• Oversee engagements from planning through completion, ensuring quality, efficiency, and adherence to professional standards.
• Review financial statements, working papers, and engagement documentation.
• Provide accounting and assurance advice to privately held and owner-managed businesses.
• Work closely with clients to understand their business, accounting, and financial reporting needs.
• Identify accounting, financial reporting, and operational issues and provide practical recommendations.
• Assist clients with complex accounting matters and business advisory needs.
• Work closely with partners on significant and complex client engagements.
• Manage multiple engagements and ensure deadlines and budgets are met.
• Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients.
• Review and oversee the work of managers, senior accountants, and junior team members.
• Provide coaching, mentoring, and technical guidance to the assurance team.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of engagement and quality-control processes.
• Participate in business development activities and identify opportunities to expand the firm's assurance and advisory services.
• Participate in client meetings and presentations as a senior representative of the firm.
• Stay current with developments in Canadian accounting standards, assurance standards, and other relevant professional requirements.
