Job summary

Municipality of Chatham-Kent is seeking a part-time Cook in Long-Term Care to prepare meals and snacks for residents, staff and visitors. The role emphasizes safe handling, nutritional value, and adherence to approved menus and production sheets.

The ideal candidate will have a Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, LCQC (Red Seal) and valid Food Safety training. Availability for 22.5 hours per week on day/afternoon shifts is required.

Qualifications

  • Secondary School Diploma or equivalent education required.
  • LCQC (Red Seal) required.
  • Public Health Food Safety Training certificate required.
  • Experience in Long-Term Care cooking preferred.
  • If LCQC is not held, up to 6000 hours cooking experience may be considered.
  • Ability to read, write and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare meals and snacks for residents, staff and visitors according to recipes and safety guidelines.
  • Operate and sanitize dietary equipment; perform pre-start checks as needed.
  • Maintain quality, portion control, and food presentation per standards.
  • Manage storage, inventory, waste, and production sheets.
  • Meet dietary needs and therapeutic portioning guidelines.
  • Record quality assurance data and communicate with coordinators.
