Our client, a well-respected and long-established law firm located in Guelph, Ontario, is seeking a Senior Associate to join their growing team in the areas of Business Law and Real Estate. About the Opportunity:
The successful candidate will step into a leadership-track role, serving an active and expanding portfolio of clients that spans the Guelph region and beyond. This position is ideal for a motivated lawyer with a robust background in business law and real estate who is looking to continue to develop their practice within a dynamic firm known for its client-first philosophy and practical, results-driven legal solutions. The ideal candidate would have a self-sufficient practice or a mostly a self-sufficient practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal counsel on complex corporate transactions including mergers and acquisitions (share and asset deals), corporate reorganizations, and acquisition financing.
  • Draft and negotiate various business agreements including shareholder agreements, joint ventures, and partnership arrangements.
  • Support and contribute to ongoing business development efforts, nurturing relationships with professionals and key stakeholders within the community and across Canada.
  • Advise clients on a wide range of real estate transactions including commercial, residential, developmental, and investor-based purchases and sales.
  • Handle institutional and private financing matters, leasing transactions, and property-related issues such as severances, easements, and conversions.
  • Act for both lenders and borrowers in secured and unsecured financing arrangements, including syndicated lending.
Key Qualifications:
  • JD/LLB and good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ post-call experience in business law and real estate.
  • Strong technical and transactional experience across both practice areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships and complex files independently.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a collaborative spirit and a passion for client service.
  • Strong interest in contributing to the firm’s growth and regional presence.
