Job summary

AgeCare in Hamilton, Ontario is seeking a dedicated Laundry Aide to manage laundering duties for residents in a long-term care setting.

You will operate washing machines, dryers, irons and a sewing machine, sort items by laundering requirements, and transport garments between floors while keeping work areas clean and organized.

Qualifications

• Experience in laundry operations is preferred.
• Basic laundry techniques/practices understood.
• Grade 12 Diploma preferred.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral instructions.

Responsibilities

• Sorts and separates items to be laundered in accordance with laundering requirements.
• Operates automatic washing machines, dryers, irons and sewing machine.
• Hand irons and folds/hangs garments after laundering.
• Performs simple mending and repairs.
• Transports laundered garments to appropriate floors.
• Ensures proper identification of all personal clothing.
• Maintains a clean work environment, dusting and washing equipment and shelves as required.
• Maintains appropriate level of supplies (e.g. soap, bleach, fabric softener and thread).
• Cleans work area upon completion of shift.

• Must be able to read, write and follow oral instructions.

Salary Range: $20.37 - $21.66 per hour

Salary placement based on qualifications and experience.
