Job summary

Southern Health-Santé Sud is seeking a Laundry Aide at Portage Regional Health Centre. You will process and transport linen, maintain records, and ensure laundry equipment is clean and functioning. The role requires independence, teamwork, and adherence to safety and confidentiality policies.

The position is in-person at Portage Regional Health Centre with a 0.9 FTE schedule, typical hours across days, evenings, and weekends, and an anticipated start in September 2026.

Qualifications

• Completed Grade 10 (Manitoba Standard).
• Previous experience in industrial or commercial laundry.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
• Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
• Willingness to travel to regional facilities as needed.
• Bilingual English/French may be required for designated roles.

Responsibilities

• Process and transport soiled and clean linen to assigned areas.
• Maintain linen inventory records, washing records, and delivery records.
• Keep laundry storage and production areas clean and organized; ensure equipment is clean and in good condition.
• Exercise initiative to set work priorities and adapt to changes in procedures.
• May travel to other regional facilities as duties require.

Position Overview

Under the direction of the Manager - Environmental Services, the Laundry Aide is responsible for the processing and transporting soiled and clean linen to the appropriate areas of the facility. The incumbent is also responsible for keeping and maintaining records for linen inventory, washing records, delivery records and maintaining the laundry production/storage areas, ensuring equipment is clean and in good working condition.
The incumbent exercises the appropriate level of initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities, work methods to be employed and action to be taken on unusual matters. The position functions in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision and values; and the policies of Southern Health-Santé Sud.

Experience

• Previous working experience in industrial or commercial laundry.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

• Completed Grade 10 education (Manitoba Standard).
• Other combination of education and experience may be considered.

• Demonstrated ability to follow written and oral instructions and to handle laundry chemicals and cleaning supplies as per Manufacturer’s directions.
