Aviva Canada is seeking a seasoned Large Loss Commercial Property Claims Examiner to join the Complex Loss Team. You will review files, oversee third-party adjusters, and ensure adherence to Aviva’s practices while managing indemnity spend and delivering outstanding customer service.

• Minimum of 15+ years of experience in commercial property claims.
• Experience handling large commercial property losses > $5,000,000.
• Detailed knowledge of the property insurance industry and strong understanding of property insurance case law.
• Strong construction knowledge.
• Solid digital literacy.
• Detailed knowledge of property coverage wordings.
• Some basic accounting skills.
• Outstanding communication and negotiation skills.
• Excellent report writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Resource field work to be completed by IA by setting clear expectations and timelines and managing the file through to completion.
• Arrange market calls or work with various insurers on subscription claims.
• Prepare and present a complete file strategy, coverage analysis, disposition and business case.
• Investigate claims by reviewing IA reports and specialists to acquire facts and information for loss analysis.
• Review and compile facts, policies, technical reports, analyze estimates, value of claim, and settle claims.
• Communicate claim adjustments via written reports to all parties per policy wording and loss circumstances.
• Provide outstanding service to our customers.
• Responsible for data accuracy and issuing payments to vendors, insureds, and specialists.
• Ensure all correspondence is completed in a timely manner including Critical Path Letters, Proofs of Losses, and Reservation of Rights letters.
• Recognize questionable claims, subrogation, and risk opportunities.

The opportunity

We are currently looking to hire a Large Loss Commercial Property Claims Examiner to join our Complex Loss Team. In this role, you will be responsible for the review of claim files and oversight of claims handled by third party adjusters. Unlike the complex loss adjusters who are on site and gather information directly, the examiners provide direction and oversight over the execution of the required steps and customer service rendered by a Third Party Adjuster. You will ensure alignment with Aviva's best practices and handling procedures. You will manage the IA in the investigation, quantification, analysis, adjustment, and settlement of property claims. With a focus on quality and customer service, you will need to work with appropriate specialists and premier vendors. The work will be conducted in an efficient manner to control the indemnity spend and expenses without compromising the delivery of outstanding customer service. What You'll Do

• Ensure all correspondence is completed in a timely and effective manner including the creation of Critical Path Letters, Proof of Losses, and Reservation of Rights letters etc.
• Responsible for recognizing questionable claims, subrogation, and risk opportunities.

What You'll Bring

• Minimum of 15+ years of experience in commercial property claims
• Solid experience managing large and complex commercial property losses in excess of $5,000,000 on a consistent basis
• Detailed knowledge of the property insurance industry and strong solid understanding of property insurance case law
• Strong construction knowledge
• Strong digital literacy
• Detailed knowledge of a variety of property coverage wordings
• Some basic accounting skills
• Outstanding communication and negotiation skills
• Excellent report writing skills

• The salary band for this position ranges from $100,700 to $150,700. Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience, as well as internal equity.
