Job summary

The Universal Group, recognized as one of Canada's Best Managed companies in 2026, is seeking a Lane Closure Technician (LCT) to support road safety across Vancouver Island. You will lead traffic control, maintain compliance with WorkSafeBC, and coordinate with contractors to minimize disruption while protecting workers and the public.

Qualified candidates have BC LCT experience, a valid TCP certificate, a clean driving record, and reliable smartphone access.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months of BC LCT experience.
• Current TCP certification recognized by WorkSafeBC or equivalent provincial regulator.
• Drivers license with a clean driving record.
• Possession of and ability to use a smartphone with a data plan.

Responsibilities

• Lead Traffic Control: set up and tear down signs and delineations and ensure safe traffic control.
• Set up traffic control zones and monitor their effectiveness.
• Provide clear directions and signals for motorists.
• Monitor the work zone and modify as scope of work changes.
