Job summary

Habitat Habanero Yard and Garden Care in Victoria, BC is seeking a Landscape worker who is self-motivated with good interpersonal skills to join our outdoor crew. This seasonal position may lead to full-time, with day, early morning and morning shifts and 20–40 hours per week.

Responsibilities include landscape construction, lawn care, pruning, planting, maintenance of equipment, and assisting with material handling.

Qualifications

• Fluent English required.
• High school graduation is required.
• 2–3 years of related experience preferred.
• Candidate should be client focused and flexible.
• Punctual and hardworking; able to work outdoors for long hours.

Responsibilities

• Assist with landscape construction.
• Weed, prune, and trim trees and plants.
• Cut grass.
• Rake and collect trash.
• Cart and spread topsoil and other materials.
• Plant trees, shrubs, flowers, and bulbs.
• Water and maintain plants, lawns, and gardens.
• Operate and maintain landscape maintenance equipment.
• Prepare and lay bricks, blocks, tiles, and other masonry units.
• Load/unload materials by hand or with basic equipment.
• Shovel cement and spread concrete/asphalt.
• Load/unload vehicles using a forklift or dolly.

• The candidate must assist with landscape construction.
• The candidate must weed, prune, and trim trees and plants.
• The candidate must cut grass.
• The candidate must rake and collect trash.
• The candidate must cart and spread topsoil and other materials.
• The candidate must plant trees, shrubs, flowers, and bulbs.
• The candidate will be responsible for watering and maintaining plants, lawns, and/or gardens.
• The candidate must operate and maintain landscape maintenance equipment.
• The candidate will be responsible for preparing and laying bricks, concrete blocks, structural tiles, and other masonry units.
• The candidate will be responsible for loading, unloading, and moving products and materials by hand or with basic material handling equipment.
• The candidate must shovel cement and other materials into cement mixers, spread concrete and asphalt on road surfaces using shovels, rakes, and hand tampers.
• The candidate will be responsible for loading and unloading vehicles using a forklift or dolly.

Job Requirements

• The candidate should be fluent in English language.
• The candidate must have a certificate of Secondary (high) school graduation.
• The ideal candidate will have at least 2 to 3 years of experience in a related industry.
