Job summary

Comcor Environmental Limited is seeking a Landfill Gas Environmental Technician to join our Ottawa, ON operations. The role involves operating and maintaining landfill gas wellfields and utilization facilities, with training in our Health and Safety program provided.

Qualifications

  • College diploma in Environmental Engineering Technology, Environmental Science degree, or certified gas technician program.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain landfill gas wellfields to ensure efficient gas production and combustion.
  • Operate and maintain landfill gas flaring and utilization facilities.
  • Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment.
  • Inspect and troubleshoot issues with landfill gas wellfields.
  • Record and maintain operational and maintenance logs for compliance and reporting purposes.
  • Supervise contractors in the proper installation of landfill gas collection systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve system issues and implement improvements.
  • Comply with safety and environmental standards and participate in training.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a full-time Landfill Gas Environmental Technician to join our Ottawa, ON, operations. In this hands-on role, you will operate and maintain landfill gas wellfields and utilization facilities that support safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible energy production. This position is well suited to a mechanically inclined professional interested in renewable energy, sustainability, and field-based operations. Training in all aspects of the job, including our extensive Health and Safety program, will be provided.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and maintain landfill gas wellfields to ensure efficient, high-quality gas production and combustion at all times.
  • Operate and maintain landfill gas flaring and utilization facilities.
  • Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment.
  • Inspect and troubleshoot issues with landfill gas wellfields.
  • Record and maintain operational and maintenance logs for compliance and reporting purposes.
  • Supervise contractors in the proper installation of landfill gas collection systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve system issues and implement improvements.
  • Comply with safety and environmental standards and participate in regular training programs.
Qualifications and Skills:

Education: College diploma in Environmental Engineering Technology, a degree in Environmental Science, or completion of a certified gas technician program. New graduates are encouraged to apply.

Experience: 2+ years of experience in plant operations and/or environmental monitoring is preferred. Experience in the landfill gas or renewable energy sector is also considered an asset, but not required.

Relevant co-op, internship, field, or hands-on technical experience will be considered.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) for data entry and reporting.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Additional Details:
  • Work Schedule: Monday to Friday Day shift
  • On-Call Requirements: On-call after hours for flaring and utilization facilities in Eastern Ontario once every 6-7 weeks.
  • Overtime:
  • Reports to: Manager- Plant Operations

  • $24+
