Job summary

The Town of Saugeen Shores in Southampton, Ontario is seeking a customer-oriented Landfill Attendant to join our Operations team. You will weigh vehicles at the scale house, collect fees and maintain day-to-day housekeeping of the scale area, reporting to the Manager, Operations.

Key requirements include a High School Diploma, at least 1 year of relevant experience, and basic accounting and computer skills (Excel, Word, Microsoft 365, Outlook).

Responsibilities

  • Weigh cars and trucks and record garbage in pounds and cubic yards.
  • Check loads for hazardous waste and unacceptable refuse and take corrective actions.
  • Complete invoices/cash payment transactions.
  • Liaise with members of the public to communicate information related to landfill use.
  • Maintain trailer/building facilities and recycle bin area, keeping it clean and safe.

The Position at a Glance:

We are seeking a customer-oriented and motivated individual to join our team. As the Landfill Attendant, reporting to the Manager, Operations, you will provide customer service at the scale house including weighing vehicles in/out, collecting fees and maintaining the day-to-day housekeeping of the scale house area.

What You Bring to the Role:
Education:

High School Diploma

Experience:

A minimum one (1) year of relevant work experience

Technical Skills:

basic accounting and computer skills including experience with Excel, Word, Microsoft 365, and Outlook

  • Salary: $24.59 to $27.94 per hour (depending on skills and experience)
