Northern Lights School Division No invites applications for a Land Language Cultural Coordinator at Dene High School in La Loche. This full-time teaching/consultant role supports land-based language and culture education with Elders and community partners.

Term: temporary until June 11, 2027. Salary: $27.80–$32.52 per hour, depending on education and experience. A valid driver's license and reliable vehicle are required; flexible hours may be involved.

Qualifications

• Strong oral and written communication and organization skills.
• Speaking Cree, Dene or Michif would be considered an asset.
• Experience in working with First Nations schools and communities.
• First-hand experience facilitating land-based learning.
• Willing to work flexible hours.
• Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Support school and community by sharing, supporting, and promoting land-based knowledge.
• Work with the principal, teachers, parents, Elders, and community members as a team in implementing and coordinating all aspects of language and land-based education.
• Assist in developing a positive, caring, and supportive culture and climate which closely aligns to the teachings of our Elders and implement the TRC's Calls to Action by prioritizing and revitalizing Indigenous languages and culture.
• Identify and establish partnerships with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community agencies to develop and coordinate opportunities for staff and students to partake in Land Language and Cultural activities.
