Job summary

Northern Lights School Division No. 113 is seeking a Success Coach for Churchill Community High School in La Ronge. The role focuses on cultural guidance, student support, and community links to improve outcomes for First Nations and Mtis students.

The successful candidate will provide case coordination, home visits, transportation for students, and collaboration with school staff to promote graduation and well-being.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social work, education, or related field.
• Experience in delivering human services such as social work, health care, justice, counselling or community development.
• Supervisory training or experience would be an asset.
• Valid Driver's License is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide enhanced First Nations and Mtis perspectives, awareness and guidance to students, families and school staff.
• Enhance linkages to First Nations and Mtis community and grow strong community networks for support and resources.
• Increase involvement of First Nations and Mtis peoples in education of their children.

The successful candidate will:

• Provide enhanced First Nations and Mtis cultural perspectives, awareness and guidance to students, families and school staff.
• Enhance linkages to the First Nations and Mtis community; continue to grow strong community network for support and resources when required.
• Increase the involvement of First Nations and Mtis peoples in the education of their children.
• Provide case coordination for students who are experiencing social, emotional and/or behavioral problems.
• Promote effective integration of community and school-based services to assist students and their families.
• Work to increase overall First Nation & Metis graduation rates through advising and supporting students and their families while demonstrating positive and healthy attitudes and by being an integral part of the graduation team.
• Provide transportation for students to school, school-based activities and/or any other necessary appointments.
• Participate in and/or conduct home visits to better assess student and family life.
• Initiate referrals of students and their families to other human service agencies; assist other human services agencies in planning and implementing services to students and their families.
• Assist in the development and/or implementation of programs and activities for individuals and groups.
• Track student progress in attendance, engagement, credit attainment, and any other attributes that will contribute to overall student success.
• Consult with the principal of the high school(s) and co-operate with school staff on a regular basis regarding student updates, progress, supports required, and any additional requirements or pertinent information.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in social work, education, or another related field or equivalent would be an asset
• Experience in the delivery of human services such as social work, health care, justice, counselling or community development
• Supervisory training or experience would be an asset
• Valid Driver's License is required
