Job summary

WSP is seeking a Land Development Project Engineer/Manager in Calgary to drive municipal water, wastewater, drainage, and road projects. You will lead multidisciplinary teams from concept to detailed design, ensuring technical excellence and project success. The role requires 10–15+ years of land development experience, a Civil Engineering degree, and a P.Eng.

in Alberta. You will manage budgets, schedules, and stakeholder relations while mentoring junior staff and supporting proposal

Qualifications

• 10 to 15+ years of experience delivering Land Development projects for public and private sector clients.
• Proven ability to lead complex land development projects and multidisciplinary technical teams.
• Strong understanding of Alberta municipal processes, permitting pathways, and infrastructure standards; mountain-region exposure is a plus.
• Demonstrated experience designing water, sanitary, stormwater, and roadway systems.
• PMP certification is considered an asset.
• Valid driver's license and readiness to support site-based work.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, design, and execution of municipal water, wastewater, drainage, roadway, and site-servicing projects for both public and private sector clients.
• Guide multidisciplinary teams through conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design phases, ensuring excellence in every deliverable.
• Grow and strengthen client relationships and serve as a trusted advisor from project initiation through completion.
• Collaborate with municipal, utility, and regulatory agencies to navigate planning and approval processes.
• Oversee budgets, schedules, scope, and project quality to ensure successful outcomes.
• Conduct site inspections and provide technical oversight during construction activities.
• Mentor emerging professionals across the Calgary municipal design practice.
• Contribute to proposal development, including scope definition, fee development, and RFP response strategy.

• Proven capability leading complex land development projects and multidisciplinary technical teams.

• Demonstrated experience designing water, sanitary, stormwater, and roadway systems.
• PMP certification is considered an asset.

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $122,900 - $162,800
MB & ON: $112,100 - $154,400
NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $111,000 - $147,400
