Land Development Engineer — Path to Project Management

Job summary

Arcadis is seeking an experienced civil engineer to transition into a structured Project Management development track. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership on land development projects while progressively developing client management, project financial management, business development, and team leadership skills under mentorship.

Qualifications

• Civil Engineering degree.
• P.Eng. licensed in Ontario, or actively pursuing licensure with a clear path toward designation.
• 5–8 years of land development consulting experience.
• Experience leading technical delivery of Site Plan, Subdivision, and/or Condominium developments.
• Experience coordinating directly with municipalities, clients, and external consultants.
• Strong understanding of Ontario municipal engineering standards and approval processes.
• Experience preparing or coordinating Functional Servicing Reports and Stormwater Management Reports.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Strong technical writing skills and ability to prepare professional engineering documentation.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Strong verbal communication and client-facing presentation skills.
• Demonstrated initiative, accountability, and leadership potential.

Responsibilities

• Act as the Project Engineer (PE) and technical lead on land development projects.
• Lead grading, servicing, stormwater management, and site design reviews.
• Coordinate with planners, architects, landscape architects, surveyors, and consultants.
• Participate in client, municipal, and consultant meetings as a technical representative.
• Develop understanding of client objectives, risks, budgets, and schedules.
• Build relationships with clients and municipal reviewers and external stakeholders.
• Guide projects through design, approvals, tendering, construction, and handover.
• Conduct site visits, construction reviews, and field investigations.
• Mentor EITs, Designers, and Technologists on design principles and delivery.
• Support proposals, business development, and fee estimates.
