Irving Shipbuilding is searching for Labourers with Industrial Painting experience in Halifax, NS.
Qualifications
- Education Required: High School Diploma
- Experience: Industrial Painting experience required
- Skills: Ability to work with different materials such as metal products, construction materials, solvents, or coatings. Ability to learn mixing industrial marine coatings and products.
- Problem-solving skills: Required
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work at heights on ladders, scaffolding, and platforms. Capable of working in confined spaces.
- Physical Effort: Frequently handle, lift, carry, and set up parts and equipment up to 50 lbs; occasionally over 50 lbs.
- Work Conditions: Indoor and outdoor environments, extreme conditions.
- Legal Requirements: Must be eligible to work in Canada, pass a pre-employment physical, background check, and meet Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. ITAR requirements.
- Additional Skills: Ability to operate power and hand tools, read drawings or blueprints (asset), operate industrial sewing machines (asset).
- Work Hours: Support extended hours and overtime as needed.
Responsibilities
- Apply safe work practices at all times.
- Use and maintain tools and equipment.
- Assist in vessel docking and undocking.
- Set up for specific work tasks.
- Learn surface preparation and coating application.
- Perform fire watch and confined space watch duties.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Assist skilled trades workers with general labor tasks.
- Prepare compartments and perform cleaning.
- Use power tools safely and efficiently.
- Be a team player.
