JOB DESCRIPTION
Irving Shipbuilding is seeking Labourers with Industrial Painting experience in Halifax, NS.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Apply safe work practices to all tasks.
• Use and maintain tools and equipment required for various work activities.
• Assist in docking and undocking vessels.
• Set up for specific work on vessels or job sites.
• Learn surface preparation and coating application skills.
• Perform fire watch and confined space watch duties.
• Work independently with minimal supervision.
• Assist skilled trades workers with general labour tasks.
• Prepare compartments and perform cleaning as needed.
• Use power tools safely and efficiently.
• Be a team player.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma required.
• Industrial Painting experience essential.
• Ability to work with various materials, including metal, construction materials, solvents, and coatings; capable of learning mixing marine coatings.
• Problem-solving skills.
• Ability to wear respiratory protection as needed.
• Physical ability to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work at heights or in confined spaces.
• Lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly; occasionally over 50 lbs.
• Work indoors and outdoors in varying environmental conditions.
• Eligible to work in Canada; pre-employment physical and background check required.
• Support extended hours and overtime.
• Operate power and hand tools, read drawings or blueprints (asset), and operate industrial sewing machines (asset).
