Job summary

ATCO Energy Systems is seeking a Labourer for a hands-on role in the gas utility sector. You will support a dedicated crew with physical, outdoor work including digging, lifting, and site cleanup.

The position involves assisting with gas system construction, service, and maintenance, including installation, repair, or replacement of gas lines and meters. A valid Alberta driver''s license and pre-employment checks are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Alberta Class 5 driver''s license with clean abstract.
• Pre-employment checks including background and drug screening.
• Ability to work outdoors and perform physically active tasks.
• Experience in trades or related fields is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Perform general labour duties such as digging, lifting, and site clean-up.
• Assist with construction, service, or maintenance activities related to natural gas systems.
• Support installation, repair, or replacement of gas lines and meters.
• Handle tools, materials, and equipment and perform basic maintenance.
• Respond to service-related work or emergencies as required.

What We Offer

• A temporary position for approximately 12 monthswith potential for permanent opportunities within our company

About the Role

As a Labourer, you’ll support a dedicated work group with hands-on, physically demanding work.

Day-to-day tasks may include:

• Performing general labour duties such as digging, lifting, carrying materials, and site clean-up
• Assisting with construction, service, or maintenance activities related to natural gas systems
• Supporting installation, repair, or replacement of gas lines, meters, and related equipment
• Handling tools, materials, and equipment, including setup and basic maintenance
• Responding to service-related work or emergency situations as required
  

What You Bring

• High School Diploma, GED, CAEC, or equivalent
• Valid Alberta Class 5 drivers license with clean abstract
• Ability to complete pre-employment conditions such as background check and alcohol and drug screening
• Ability to work outdoors and handle physically active tasks
• Experience as an apprentice gasfitter or work in trades, hydrovac, concrete, general labor, landscaping, construction, mechanical, or field service is an asset
