Job summary

Valard Construction, based in Sherwood Park just outside Edmonton, is seeking a Utilities Labourer to support early-stage utility installations in new subdivisions.

Reporting to the Lead Hand, you will help install shallow-utilities (power, gas and telecom) outdoors, often in long shifts, with a team. Candidates must have a valid Class-5 license, own vehicle, be able to lift 50 lbs, and be prepared for varied hours.

Qualifications

• Experience in a team-oriented construction environment.
• Must have a valid Class-5 driver’s license and an acceptable drivers abstract.
• Must have own vehicle to get to site.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, work outside for extended periods of time.
• Must be flexible to working varying hours.

Responsibilities

• Set telecom peds, precast bases, sanding trench, moving material.
• Lay power cable, telecom pipe, gas pipe in trenches up to 1.5m deep.
• Operate jumping-jacks, and other handheld or portable equipment.
• Operate skidsteer and backhoe at times safely onsite.
• Read and understand construction drawings for specific tasks given.
• Complete time sheets, vehicle pre-trip inspections and other paperwork as assigned.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Our Distribution group is currently looking to add a Utilities Labourer to our team, based in Sherwood Park, AB.

Reporting to the Lead Hand, we are seeking an experienced construction Labourer to help install shallow-utilities (power, gas and telecommunications) in new subdivisions in and around the Edmonton area. This position requires the ability to work long hours working outdoors, working as a cohesive group.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Set telecom peds, precast bases, sanding trench, moving material
• Lay power cable, telecom pipe, gas pipe in trenches up to 1.5m deep
• Operate jumping-jacks, and other handheld or portable equipment
• Operate skidsteer and backhoe at times safely onsite
• Read and understand construction drawings for specific tasks given
• Complete time sheets, vehicle pre-trip inspections and other paperwork as assigned
• Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisors

This position offers an hourly rate of $23/hr.
