Job summary

Alstar Group is seeking a hands-on technician to join our Western Canadian manufacturing and maintenance team. The role focuses on rigging, loading trailers, and lifting operations within a safety-first shop.

Applicants should have 3+ years of rigging and trailer loading experience, a Grade 12 or GED, and a valid 5-year driver’s abstract. Forklift or Zoom Boom tickets are a plus. This is a full-time, on-site position with growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum Grade 12 or GED.
• 3+ years of rigging experience in industrial/construction settings.
• 3+ years of loading trailers experience.
• Valid Driver’s License with a 5-year abstract.
• Experience with Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHAs).
• Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting/handling procedures.
• Forklift or Zoom Boom tickets are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Physically demanding role reporting to the assigned foreman.
• Work in a large manufacturing facility and yard in various indoor/outdoor conditions, heat/cold, and a fast-paced environment.
• Perform complex tasks and operate small equipment.
• Complete pre-use inspections of lifting gear.
• Choose the appropriate rigging hardware and hitches.
• Safely lift steel, pipes, and structural material.

What We're Looking For From You

• Over 3 years of experience loading trailers required
• Over 3 years of hands-on rigging experience in industrial or construction settings
• Minimum Grade 12 or GED
• Valid Driver’s License with a current 5-Year Driver’s Abstract
• Previous experience completing Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHAs)
• Good knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting/handling procedures
• Zoom Boom or Forklift ticket is an asset (not required)
• Physically fit and agile: ability to lift up to 60 lbs, work at heights, and ascend/descend ladders
• Excellent communication, verbal, and listening skills with strong attention to detail and ability to follow directions
• Ability to perform well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Proven safety attitude and excellent attendance history
