Job summary

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is seeking a Labourer II to perform semi-skilled manual work in the maintenance of equipment and facilities in the Springdale area. You will operate a variety of tools and machinery, keep the Mechanical Shop clean and safe, and assist other technicians as needed.

• Performs semi-skilled manual work operating various tools, equipment and machinery used in equipment maintenance.
• Maintains the Mechanical Shop clean and safe; issues tools from the tool room; maintains tool room in order.
• Sandblasts mechanical equipment; paints attachments; picks up and delivers parts in the Springdale area; assists the Automotive Service Repairer and Heavy Equipment Technician as needed.
• Responsible for snow and ice control at the Springdale Garage; other related duties as assigned.

Transportation and Infrastructure - Government of Newfoundland and Labrador The Labourer II performs semi-skilled manual work in the operation of various types of tools, equipment and machinery used in equipment maintenance. The worker is responsible for maintaining the Mechanical Shop ensuring it is in a clean and safe work environment; issues tools from the tool room; maintains the tool room in an orderly manner; sandblasts mechanical equipment as necessary; paints equipment attachments with compressed air painters; picks up parts from suppliers as well as delivers parts to various repair shops in the Springdale area; assists the Automotive Service Repairer in the repair of tires; assists the Heavy Equipment Technician with moving parts, repairs of tires, etc., as needed; responsible for snow and ice control at the Springdale Garage; other related duties, as assigned.
