Responsible for performing manual labour as part of a crew, operating light and heavy-duty vehicles/equipment and hand tools for roads maintenance and repair work as assigned.
Equipment operated includes tandem and single-axle dump trucks, 5-tonne boom and 1-tonne trucks with hoists, tractors, mowers, 2-3 yard articulated loaders, plow and wing units with spreader controls, trailers, hand mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, jackhammers, line-marking machines, sidewalk grinders (walk-behind and ride-on), among others, for maintenance and repair of roads, sidewalks, boulevards, culverts, curbs, catch basins, stormwater management, barriers, snow removal, and safety devices.
Duties include debris and garbage pickup, grass cutting, asphalt and gravel patching, catch basin and sod repair, fencing, traffic control, safety device setup, and winter control operations like snow plowing/removal, sanding, salting, shoveling, and debris removal. All work must comply with Division standards and Health & Safety policies. Overtime, shift work, and rotational standby may be required. The employee will provide backup support to other Operations Labourer/Drivers as needed, contribute to a positive, safe, and respectful work environment, and foster customer-service excellence.
