Job description

Labourers are required to perform daily field activities under the direction of the site supervisor. It’s an expectation they adhere to the policies outlined in Hall’s HSE and are an active participant in site organization and safety.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates understanding of Hazard Assessments and Emergency Response Plans
  • Works safely around powered mobile equipment – understands right of way, blind spots, & pinch points
  • Understands hand signals to properly communicate with equipment operators
  • Works in a variety of weather conditions and confined spaces, if required
  • Follows basic verbal instructions, and respects the chain of command
  • Acts as a spotter for powered mobile equipment, when properly trained
  • Identifies tools and understands their function
  • Organizes tools and keeps pathways clear
  • Assists crew members in placing signage/barricades to protect designated work zones
  • Interacts with public in courteous, professional manner

Qualifications:

  • Years of experience: Minimum 6 months
  • Education: High School or Equivalent
  • Considered an asset:
    • Ground Disturbance Lv. 2
    • Confined Space
    • Fall Protection
    • First Aid
  • Physical fitness for high-intensity tasks (Lift up to 50lbs)
  • This role includes tasks requiring respiratory protection. Employees must be clean-shaven and fit-tested for ½ or full non-powered respirators, as per Provincial OHS Regulations and Hall OHS Policy.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends as necessary to meet project deadlines.

Technical Skills:

  • You have knowledge on safe work procedures.
  • You can clearly identify various utility fittings, pipe, and can set up tools and pumps.
  • Safely operate Jackhammer, Compressor, Plate Tamper, Jumping Jack, Grinder, Chop Saw and other tools as required
  • You understand layout, pipe terminology, and different gravel types.
