This approximately two-year, full-time opportunity is ideally suited to an accomplished labour relations professional who enjoys being close to the work, advising leaders, navigating complex workplace matters, and building constructive relationships in an environment where strong labour relations expertise meaningfully impacts the organization.

As a trusted advisor to senior leaders, directors and managers, you will provide strategic and operational labour relations expertise while contributing to significant organizational initiatives in workforce transformation, operational planning and growth.

The successful candidate will work in a sophisticated, multi-union healthcare environment, bringing sound judgment, practical problem-solving skills, and a collaborative approach to complex labour relations matters.

The Opportunity

In this role, you will:

  • Provide strategic labour relations advice and practical guidance to leaders across the organization.
  • Interpret and administer multiple collective agreements and provide guidance on applicable employment legislation, organizational policies and labour relations best practices.
  • Lead and support workplace investigations, including interviews, fact gathering, analysis and recommendations.
  • Manage grievances and work collaboratively with leaders and union representatives toward effective resolution.
  • Participate in collective bargaining preparation and negotiations, including research, analysis, proposal development and implementation.
  • Contribute to labour relations projects and broader organizational initiatives involving growth, transition and workforce planning.
  • Monitor legislative, regulatory and labour relations developments and provide proactive recommendations to support compliance and mitigate risk.
What You Bring

You are an experienced Labour Relations professional who can balance sound technical knowledge with judgment, diplomacy and a practical approach to problem-solving.

Ideally, you will bring:

  • A university degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Labour Relations or a related discipline.
  • Progress toward a CHRP designation.
  • A minimum of four years of progressive labour relations experience, including grievance management, collective bargaining, workplace investigations and supporting leaders through organizational change or restructuring.
  • Experience working in a complex, multi-union environment; healthcare or hospital experience is considered a strong asset.
  • Strong knowledge of employment-related legislation and contemporary labour and employment practices.
  • Demonstrated experience leading projects or organizational initiatives from planning through implementation.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, conflict-resolution and negotiation skills.
  • Sound judgment and discretion when handling sensitive and confidential matters.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.

This is a temporary, full-time opportunity expected to last approximately two years, with a 75-hour pay period. The position is compensated at approximately $108,000 annualized. Travel between sites within the Niagara Region will be required.
