Job summary

The Cardston Health Centre Laboratory at Alberta Health Services (AHS) seeks a Medical Laboratory Technologist I to handle daily processing, testing, results analysis and reporting of diagnostic samples. You will perform routine and specialized procedures in a busy rural laboratory.

Relocation assistance may be available with a Return of Service Agreement. A recruitment incentive may be eligible for this Regular Part Time position with a 0.70 FTE, working days, evenings, weekends, and on-call

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program.
• Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the CMLTA.
• Criminal Record Check prior to starting work.
• Strong phlebotomy skills and teamwork.

Cardston Health Care Center Laboratory is located in the town of Cardston Alberta which is approximately 230 kms south of Calgary, 80 kms southwest of Lethbridge and 25 kms north of the State of Montana. This busy rural location serves the town as well as the surrounding communities.Relocation assistance may be available with a Return of Service Agreement.This vacancy may be eligible for recruitment incentive.

Description:

As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) I, you will be responsible for the daily processing, testing, results analysis and reporting of diagnostic samples within the laboratory department. You will perform a variety of routine and specialized procedures in the processing of specimens used in diagnosis, treatment and research.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program.Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

A Criminal Record Check before they are able to begin working within the organization.The successful applicant must have a strong sense of teamwork and possess excellent communication skills.Strong Technical skills and adaptability is imperative in this position.Strong phlebotomy skills is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Recent rural experience is an asset.
