Bureau Veritas Montreal is looking for a Laboratory Technician to join our petroleum laboratory in Montreal.

Summary: Oil and Petroleum Laboratory Technicians perform laboratory tests to determine chemical and physical characteristics or composition of solid, liquid, or gaseous materials for quality control, process control, or product development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Test samples of manufactured products to verify conformity to specifications.
• Record test results on standardized forms and write test reports describing procedures used; prepare graphs and charts.
• Cleans and sterilizes laboratory equipment; calibrates laboratory instruments.
• Prepare chemical solutions according to standard formulas.
• Add chemicals or raw materials to process solutions or product batches to meet specifications.
• Review laboratory analysis, generate Certificate of Analysis, and approve data when authorized by Lab Manager.
• Prioritize daily workload to accommodate rushes and analysis TAT.
• Follow Standard Operating Procedures (with emphasis on quality control).
• Ensure high accuracy in sample prep and analysis, adhering to QA regulations.
• Communicate SOP non-conformances to management.
• Develop SOPs and work instructions.
• Support and comply with BV policies, Quality System, and safety programs.
• Understand analysis procedures and troubleshoot minor issues.
• Maintain and assess instruments.
• Validate data output.
• Participate in lab and safety meetings.
• Maintain knowledge of relevant legislation.
• Promote a positive work environment.
• Support BV’s initiatives and act as a positive change agent.

Candidate Profile:

• BSc. in Chemistry, technical diploma, or three-year College diploma in analytical chemistry.
• Dynamic, energetic, motivated with a positive attitude.
• Good time-management, communication, multitasking, and prioritization skills.
• Strong sense of urgency and adaptability.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and record-keeping skills.
• Ability to follow SOPs and instructions accurately.
• Quick learner.
