RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).
Position Summary
Research Project: Mechanisms of glomerular cell injury
Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, the laboratory technician participates in the execution of laboratory projects and experiments. He/she sets up, cleans and maintains laboratory equipment. He/she performs a variety of specialized technical tasks according to established methodology.
General Duties
Under The Direction Of The Immediate Supervisor, The Incumbent
- Participates in the execution of laboratory projects and experiments. Performs a variety of specialized technical tasks according to established methodology in fields such as biochemistry, physiology, histology, immunology and molecular biology,
- Prepares and sets up materials and equipment. Performs a variety of assays, analyses and tests such as tissue culture, molecular techniques, electrophoresis, chromatography,
histological procedures and microscopy. Participates in small animal handling and minor surgery,
- Records results, performs calculations and compiles data. Maintains records and files,
- Maintains equipment and performs minor repairs. Arranges for servicing,
- Ensures the cleanliness and safety of the work area,
- Maintains inventory. Purchases equipment and materials,
- Keeps abreast of new developments in the field to update skills and knowledge,
- Uses a variety of equipment such as balances, pH meters, pipettors, laminar flow hoods, incubators, autoclaves, microscopes, spectrophotometers, centrifuges, chromatography apparatus, thermocycler, imaging system, electrophoresis apparatus, microtomes and computers,
- Accomplishes any other related tasks as required by the immediate supervisor.

Education: Bachelor's Degree
Field of Study: biochemistry, physiology or biology
Work Experience: some experience preferred but not mandatory

Additional information
Status: Temporary, part-time (50-75%)
Pay Scale: $22.83- $34.26/h. Commensurate with education and experience
Work Shift: Variable Schedule
Flexible hours as experiments required
Work Site: GLEN Site, 1001 boul. Decarie
