Suncor Energy Inc. in Fort McMurray, Alberta, is seeking a detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join our Base Plant Laboratory team.

You will perform analytical and quality control tasks, support internal customers, and ensure safe, accurate reporting of results in a refinery environment. The role requires at least a two-year diploma in Chemical Laboratory Technology or a BSc in Chemistry, with 1+ year industrial QC experience, strong analytical skills, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Two-year diploma in Chemical Laboratory Technology or a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry.
• 1+ years of experience in an industrial QC lab; refinery/oil sands preferred.
• Strong understanding of QA/QC practices and analytical troubleshooting.

We are looking for a detail orientated Laboratory Technician to join our team. Reporting to Laboratory Team Lead, you will be responsible for assigned analytical and quality control work within Suncor Energy’s Base Plant Laboratory.

Minimum Requirements:

• Must possess a minimum of a two-year diploma in Chemical Laboratory Technology or a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from a recognized institution

• 1+ years of experience in an industrial quality control laboratory; experience in a refinery or oil sands environment is preferred

• Understanding of laboratory QA/QC practices

• Exceptional troubleshooting and analytical skills

• A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record

Location and other Key Details:

• You will work out of our Baseplant site in Fort McMurray, Alberta

• The shift schedule is a six days on/six days off rotation (three days on, three nights on, six days off; 12-hour shifts)

• You may be required to stand for long periods of time

• The environment requires the use of PPE; safety boots, safety glasses, respiratory equipment, safety gloves, hearing protection, and specialized safety equipment
