Suncor Energy Inc. is seeking intermediate Chemical or Mineral Processing Engineers for Fort McMurray, AB. The role focuses on safe, reliable production while improving safety, quality, and efficiency across Upgrading, Extraction, and Utilities.

You will collaborate across technical and operations teams to optimize plant operations and asset performance. Relocation assistance is provided. An undergraduate degree in chemical or mineral processing engineering, 5–7 years of oil sands experience,

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in chemical or mineral process engineering.
• Five to seven years of experience; preferably in oil sands processing or Upgrading/Refining/Extraction/Utilities technologies.
• Registered or immediately eligible for professional membership with APEGA.
• Strong computer skills; experience with Microsoft Office; exposure to process simulators an asset.
• Alberta Class 5 Driver's Licence or equivalent.

• Ensure safe, reliable operations through technical monitoring, field inspections, and risk assessments.
• Lead troubleshooting, optimization, and improvement projects while mentoring junior engineers.

• Apply sound engineering judgment and collaboration to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions that incorporate process safety and value engineering.

Minimum Requirements:

• Undergraduate degree in chemical or mineral process engineering
• Five to seven years of experience; preferably in oil sands processing or Upgrading/ Refining / Extraction / Utilities technologies
• Registered or are immediately eligible for professional membership with the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta (APEGA)
• Strong computer skills are required, experience with Microsoft Office suite of programs is essential, exposure to process simulators will be an asset.
• Alberta Class 5 Driver's License or equivalent

Location and other Key details:

Positions are located in Fort McMurray, AB

Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday

This position has been identified as safety sensitive

If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory. Relocation support will be provided; we offer housing assistance to eligible individuals
