Job summary

Dynacare is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to join our Ontario team. This float position involves obtaining quality blood samples, performing tests, and delivering compassionate patient care in a fast-paced setting.

You will be part of a collaborative lab team ensuring accuracy and efficient service. The role offers an hourly pay range of CAD 30.20–44.58, with 15 hours guaranteed for a permanent float position and on-site work across multiple Ontario locations.

Qualifications

• Completed Secondary School and a Laboratory Assistant training program or Medical Lab Assistance course with phlebotomy training.
• Customer-focused with genuine care for patient health.
• Demonstrate skill in phlebotomy and calming anxious patients.
• Ability to manage deadlines and stay organized.
• Excellent English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Create an ideal customer experience related to our products and services.
• Accurately enter data, patient, and test information for Ministry of Health requisitions.
• Obtain quality blood samples and other specimens using venipuncture.
• Sort and steer specimens; perform ECGs, Holter hookups, urine and drug collections.
• Ensure documentation is complete and samples are ready for transport to the lab.
• Maintain confidentiality and support quality metrics and regulatory compliance.

How YOU will make a difference:

• Create an ideal customer experience that is best in class and engages with individuals around our products and services
• Accurately enter data, patient, and test information for Ministry of Health requisitions
• Obtain quality blood samples and other specimens from patients, using skillful venipuncture techniques, performed in keeping with Dynacare’s mission and values
• Sort and steer specimens, perform ECG’s, Holter Hookups, paternity, urine, drug and breath alcohol collections
• Ensure specimens and supporting documentation are completed as required in SOPs and ready for data entry and transportation to the laboratory, following established protocols for the handling of suitable and unsuitable samples
• Ensure all confidential information is maintained in a secure fashion. Contribute to meeting the departmental/corporate quality metrics, regulatory compliance and quality indicators

What YOU bring to the role:

• You have completed Secondary School and a Laboratory Assistant training program or a Medical Lab Assistance course with specialized training in phlebotomy
• You are customer-focused with a genuine care for patient's health
• Demonstrate skill in phlebotomy, with the ability to manage anxious patients through the sample obtaining process in a pleasant, calming and reassuring manner
• Prioritize and self-manage within a deadline-oriented environment
• Be extremely detail oriented
• Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, at a level that enables you to communicate instructions, clearly and understandably, to patients

Working Conditions

• May be required to lift a maximum of 30 pounds
• Repetitive movements with frequent computer use

Pay rate: $20.00-$23.75 per hourThe hiring pay range has been established; however, the final pay offer will be determined by taking into consideration various factors including but not limited to, level of experience and education requirements.
