Your Opportunity:

You're precise, analytical and detail oriented - just the kind of person we need at Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) located in Rimbey. You can follow lab processes and procedures exactly, enter the associated data reliably and correctly, and discern subtle differences in lab samples, including urinalysis. The position includes day shifts. Rimbey is a small town with easy access to Red Deer and less than two hours from both Edmonton and Calgary located at the junction of Highways 20 and 53 in the Blindman River valley. It is a farming community with the oil and gas sector playing an important role also. Position overview

As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications: 2 years experience in a medical laboratory working as a Medical Laboratory Assistant. Equivalencies may be considered. Cardiology training and experience including ECG's and Holter Monitors. All blood collection procedures including: venipuncture, micro punctures, blood culture collections as well as collections on all patient ages including newborns, pediatrics and geriatrics. Recent macro and micro urinalysis experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Current registration with CSMLS. Experience with Connect Care Epic. Demonstrated participation in continuing education in a medical laboratory field. Recent experience in cardiology testing including Holter monitor and ECG with MUSE and Cardioday applications. Ability to communicate effectively in English. Good organizational skills and ability to assume responsibility. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work independently and promote teamwork. Familiar with Clinitek Status.
